Memorial Middle School Club/Activities Information
Listed below are the clubs/activities that are offered at the Middle School. All clubs usually meet after school from 2:50pm-3:30pm. Clubs begin at different points in the year. Please stay tuned for interest meeting information from each club advisor. The FSA does not run the clubs. This page is for information only. If you have questions about the clubs, you can contact the advisor or main office.
Art Club
Art Club - Mrs. Hatzikyriakou
Club/Activity: Art Club (Grades 5-8)

Description: The MMS Art Club is a creative space where students can explore their artistic talents beyond the art cycle experience. Members experiment with different materials and techniques, work on fun projects, and collaborate on group art pieces. The club encourages self-expression, creativity, and community through hands-on activities. No prior experience is needed just a passion for making art!
Band
After School Band - Ms. Stroh
Club/Activity: Beginning Band (5th grade)
Advisor: Ms. Stroh
Meeting Day(s): Weekly scheduled lesson, and Tuesdays 2:50-3:30 (starting in January)
Description: Beginning band is an exciting introduction to playing an instrument and making music with friends! You can choose a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument and learn how to play and read music with Ms. Stroh. Each week you have a lesson with your instrument group, and we begin meeting after school in January to prepare for exciting performances!

Description: This group is for returning students in 6th grade and any new sixth grade band members! You know the basics on reading and counting music, now we will really take our skills to the next level and perform in a winter and spring concert! As the music gets more challenging, we become better performers with each lesson.

Description: Concert band is for returning members in grades 7 and 8. This group is for you if you are prepared to take your musical skills to the next level with new music, pop tunes, and music festivals. You'll get to show off your hard work in various performances throughout the year. If you know the drill and are eager to make some great music, join Concert Band!

Description: Love to sing? Come join the Treble Choir! This fun, no-audition choir is open to all 5th graders who just love music. We’ll sing together, learn the basics, try out harmonies, and get ready to perform in school concerts. No experience needed—just bring your voice and good vibes!

Description: This brand-new auditioned group was created to showcase the amazing vocal talent growing in our school! Select Choir is for committed 7th and 8th grade singers who are ready for more challenging music, harmonies, and performance opportunities. We’ll represent our school at concerts, festivals, and special events. If you love to sing and want to take it to the next level, this is the group for you!
Debate Club

Description: The Debate Club is a place where students come together to practice the art of discussion and argument in a fun and respectful way. Members learn how to research topics, organize their thoughts, and present their ideas clearly. The club encourages students to listen carefully to others’ points of view and respond with thoughtful arguments of their own. Debating helps build confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Most importantly, Debate Club gives students the chance to explore different perspectives, work as a team, and have fun while sharpening their communication skills.
Drama Club

Description: The Middle School Musical is one of the biggest and most exciting events of the year! Over 100 students come together to bring a full production to life—on stage and behind the scenes. Whether you love to sing, dance, act, or help out with stage crew, there’s a place for everyone. It’s a fun, creative, and unforgettable experience where teamwork and talent shine!
E-Sports Club

Description: Esports at MMS is a fun way for students to engage in various esports with friends. Open to 7th and 8th grade students, we have numerous games available on gaming PCs, Xbox, and the Switch. For students interested in one day playing competitively at the varsity level in high school, to students just looking to have some fun competition in games like Smash, Fortnite, Rocket League and more, this is the place to be.
Homework Alliance

Description: Homework Alliance is an after school club that provides students with a quiet, structured classroom setting to focus on completing homework or addressing any missing assignments. This supportive environment encourages productivity to support academic success. (parents sign up their kids via the office).

Description: Our middle school intramurals program offers students a fun and inclusive way to stay active through a variety of sports such as homerun ball, basketball, whiffle ball, ultimate football, and more! Open to all skill levels, the program focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical wellness in a fun and competitive environment. Activities are held after school until 3:30 and are designed to give every student a chance to participate. It's a great opportunity for kids to make new friends, build confidence, and develop healthy habits!

Description: The Newspaper Club not only provides an opportunity for students to share their talents through writing skills, but it also allows them to dive into their creative side with other articles and artwork that can be contributed to the school newspaper. Many students find themselves being photographers, research article writers, artists, comic book and graphic novelists, graphic designers, poets, and the author of many topics of interest to students. In this club, students will be able to share their interests and choose what they would like to write about or design. Being an informer for all of the wonderful happenings in Memorial Middle School is the goal of our Newspaper Club! Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of the team that informs, inspires and entertains! Come showcase your talents and help tell the stories that matter to MMS and YOU.

Description: During school orchestra rehearsals students will work on concert music. The orchestra is open to all students who attend regular lessons during the school day. (5th graders do not attend after school rehearsals until April.)

Description: The Random Acts of Kindness Club is all about making our school a more positive and welcoming place, one small gesture at a time. This club encourages students to spread kindness through simple, thoughtful actions throughout the school year. Members meet to brainstorm new ideas, and support one another in turning compassion into action. It's a place where every student can make a difference, no matter how small the deed.

Description: The Science Club is a fun and exciting place where students can explore science through cool experiments, creative projects, and group activities. It’s a great way to learn more about how the world works—whether it’s through making slime, building simple machines, or discovering the stars. Everyone who’s curious and loves to ask “why?” is welcome to join!

Description: The MMS Student council is a group of elected students who serve as leaders within the school community. In middle school, the council gives students a chance to share ideas, plan events, and represent their classmates' voices. Members often help organize different types of collection drives, MMS Annual Kindness Week, spirit days/weeks, fundraisers, and service projects. They also act as a bridge between students and teachers, bringing forward suggestions to improve school life. Serving on the MMS student council builds leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, all while helping make the school a more fun and welcoming place for everyone.
